This policy explains what Modern Chic Style collects when you visit modernchicstyle.com, why, and what you can do about it.
Who we are
Modern Chic Style is an independent style publication. We do not sell products. We write about clothing and link to it on Amazon, and we earn a commission on qualifying purchases – see our Affiliate Disclosure for the detail.
What we collect
- Comments. If you leave a comment we store the name, email address and website you enter, plus your IP address and browser user agent, which helps with spam detection.
- Analytics. We use Google Analytics via Google Site Kit to understand which pages people read. This collects anonymised usage data such as pages viewed, approximate location, device and referring site.
- Server logs. Our host records standard request logs, including IP addresses, for security and troubleshooting.
We do not collect payment details, because we never take payments. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Cookies and affiliate tracking
If you leave a comment you may opt in to a cookie that saves your details for next time. Analytics sets cookies to distinguish repeat visits.
Affiliate links set cookies too. When you click a link to Amazon, Amazon places a cookie in your browser so it can attribute a later purchase to this site. That cookie is set and read by Amazon, not by us – we never see who you are or what you bought, only an aggregate count of commissions. Amazon’s handling of that data is governed by the Amazon Privacy Notice.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your data and we do not share it with advertisers. Data reaches only the service providers that make the site work: our web host, Google (analytics), and Amazon (affiliate attribution, as described above). Each processes it under its own privacy terms.
How long we keep it
Comments and their metadata are kept indefinitely so follow-up replies make sense. Analytics data is retained according to Google’s standard retention settings. Server logs are rotated by our host.
Your rights
If you have commented on this site you can ask for an export of the personal data we hold about you, or ask us to erase it. Erasure does not cover data we are required to keep for administrative, legal or security reasons. If you are in the UK, EU or another region with equivalent law, you also have the right to object to processing and to complain to your local data protection authority.
